Santa Anita
December 26, 2011

Santa Anita Raceway.Palm Trees.
Every year we go to opening day at Santa Anita on Dec 26. My sister and
her SO are horse people, sorta, and it's fun.
We sit in the infield, inside the track. There's lots of palm trees
around. It's a nice area.

Warming up.They're off!
Well, walking out to the starting gate, anyway.
The 6 furlong races started in the back. This is one of the races just as
it's getting started.

Coming down the back stretch.Guess which one I bet on?
This is the back side of the track, a little after where the 6 furlong races
start. The horses haven't really gotten going strong yet.
I didn't win one bet all day. My sister's SO did. I think he won two. None
of us came away with any money.

Sky Divers.Coming in.
They announced that there would be sky divers while I was in line to get soda, but the two women in line behind me didn't hear. We were all looking up at the
helicopter hovering above the track when the divers started their smoke trails. The women behind me nearly paniced, saying "What's wrong with the helicopter?!?!"
I will always regret not saying "IT'S COMING DOWN! AAAAHHHH!" Instead I just told them there were skydivers. Another opportunity lost.

The Eighth Race, Part I.The Eighth Race, Part II.
The Eighth Race, Part III.
The eighth race was a mile race, so it started at a spot I could get closer to. I got them just before and just as the gates opened,
and a split second later, when they'd actually started moving.

The end of the eighth race.
This was the end of that race. My horse, "Glue Pot", wasn't close enough to fit in the picture. The sun was peaking through, laughing at me.
