Sacramento River and Old Sac from West Sac
January 12, 2012

Ok, what prompted this shoot was the TV show "The Mentalist". They are supposedly based in Sacramento, and occasionally have
the Sacramento River and the Tower Bridge in the background. I wanted to go see if the places I remember from the show were
really there, or if it was just a backdrop or green screen or whatever. I happened to be in the Old Sac/West Sac area today,
so headed over to the area they represent. I am leaning toward green screen. I didn't see anything like what they've had in
the show.

The Pony Express Bridge
This is also refered to as the "I" street bridge. It pivots from the middle when ships need to pass.

The River and Old Sacramento
This is an area in Old Sac behind the railroad museum and tracks. It's a good
place to sit and see the river.
Just south of that is the Delta King and other boats docked there. Behind them
is downtown Sacramento.

Railroad Museum
River Walk
There are a few museums in Old Sac. This is the Railroad Museum. It's a cool
place, though I have only been in it a few times.
The area next to the river is labeled 'River Walk'. Behind it are a few office
buildings, and Raley Field (home of the River Cats) is next door.

Pilings and the Tower Bridge
This is Old Sacramento and the end of the Tower Bridge. The signs on the pilings say
'Danger. Pile.' Thanks. The water's not really that brown, it's... well, yes it is.
London isn't the only place with a Tower Bridge. We don't, however, have a
'Tower of Sacramento' next to it with an execution dock and a bunch of old prison cells.
Yet.

More of the Tower Bridge
The center section rises for ships to pass underneath. Too bad it wasn't up when I was there.

Joe's Crab ShackRio City Cafe
Never been here. I hear it's good. I can only eat so much crab before it gets to be too much.
And "so much" isn't a lot. Then it's like eating frosting, it's good but I just can't take it.
I haven't eaten here. I imagine it's good, too. :-)
